Bin The Labels…and Please Make Way For The Connections

Standard

If I ruled the world, I would begin by eradicating labels from society…ALL of them (almost)

There would be no – Black, White, British, Spanish, Old, Young, Liberal, Conservative, Sociopath, Bi Polar, Cancer, Farmer, Waitress, Unemployed, Married, Single, Disabled, labels 1Blind, Forgiving, Vengeful, Kind, Generous, Sweet, Cruel, Upper Class, Learning Difficulties, Healthy, Sick, Damaged, Fixed etc

When I studied sociology, I learnt about the importance of labels. I was taught that when a new label was introduced to mainstream language, it was a reflection of a ‘groups’ needs being recognised.labels

I was also taught that when a new label replaces an old one, such as the change from ‘Spastic‘ in the 80’s; to ‘A person with Learning Difficulties‘ in the 2000’s; the change is a reflection of a group trying to shed the stigma of being attached to a label that is mocked/ridiculed/mistreated/misunderstood/considered lesser

Sociology aside, life has taught me more about labels than any academic theory ever could. Read the rest of this entry

Just Breathe…

Video

Fear and pain cause us to build a fortress around ourselves, one thick enough to withstand nuclear attacks to the mind, body and soulfear

Reality teaches us all about the limitations of fear

And ends the lesson with a reminder that scary things exist

But does it do us any good? Trying to avoid fearful situations?

The soul knows the answer to this…

The soul knows love, life, peace and freedom. It has no room or purpose for fear, other than as a reminder to be brave

Fear stops me breathing, over and over again Read the rest of this entry

Seriously? Morally Skewwiff-ness Is Outa Control!

Standard

I woke up this morning scared and sad…

I don’t keep up with current events, I don’t watch the news and I don’t read the papers. This got me thinking about the stories they print.

My reasons for not indulging are as follows…

I don’t need to read the papers anymore because every day the news is repeated. I no longer have to tune in to know that somewhere there is a war happening, that is destroying thousands of lives everyday

Someone will be running a story on human rights and I don’t have to know the journalist, to know that they will be mocking the importance of these misunderstood rights; assigning them as the root to our social problems, and undoubtedly including a link to prisoners being fed! God forbid!

At least one story about racial tension and immigration will feature, and some bull shit statistic will cause yet more tension on someones doorstep Read the rest of this entry

Excuse Invalid…Coupon expired some time ago!

Standard

Ok…I’m throwing out a bit of a generalisation here, and I mean not to offend, but I can’t help but think that some people are using their childhood baggage as an excuse to be an adult asshole, when the reasons they state for their dysfunction, no longer wash!

Survivor

I say this with a fair amount of my own ‘suitcases of crap’; that I and life have filled along my travels. I didn’t grow up in the London version of the ‘Waltons’ mountain top dream home/family, as I’m sure most people didn’t

They say ‘kids bounce back quickly’, and now I’m an adult I would have to say that this is only partly true. When we turn 18, or 21 or 30 or 60, we don’t have some magical erase button that wipes the slate clean…We are all grubby little slabs, affected by events of old days

However, bar the severely autistic, as adults we know at least some of the social rules that guide us through life. We know right from wrong, and most of us know what we are doing/being, when we behave like spoilt children Read the rest of this entry

God and ‘Boots the Chemist’ are making me a better person! Together :)

Standard

I went insane recently on a level previously unseen by most of mankind, many 3000 word posts can be found in my archives that reflect my utterly doo-la-lee state of mind, should you be interested.

During this period, in an attempt to regain my sanity… I read several books, one of which was called ‘Conversations with God’ and there was a sentence in there which made me realise that it’s never too late to change, little by little, if you want to

I can’t remember his exact words but the basic gist was this…

‘Decide to do better, and get on with it’

I loved it! It may seem an obvious route to being a more evolved person, but there was something about the words that highlighted the simplicity of changing your ways…

Then I remembered a phrase from a Boots campaign – ‘Change one thing at a time’

Then I looked outside at my ‘Vote Green Party’ poster, proudly blue tacked to my wall, and I decided my thing to change that day was to stop using 50 carrier bags every time I go shopping. Read the rest of this entry

‘Changing the World’ (and it’s associated Malarkey)… is bloody hard work! ;)

I tried to woo you with politics and failed miserably.

Are we ever going to stand up for the elderly? (They need your ‘left click’ ;))

Then I utilised my crappy sense of humour and this gave the post marginally better results, but they were still very poor, far less than I need to whoop Cammy Boy’s ass.

Then I tried to poke your emotional weak spots, by using your Grandparents against you (very low I know)!

Then I tried some good old fashioned begging

And then I resorted to plain old emotional blackmail – and held you all responsible for my sobbing soul

ALL that effort and I got about 10 citizens to join my ‘Save the Biddie’s’ club, (on all 3 posts ;/)…So I’m un-sticking the campaign post, cos its clearly not doing it’s job. And I’m gonna go back to the drawing board, on how to influence the masses 😉

Fear not Oldies, Dawny has not forgotten you, she will bring you back to full glory when plan H has been formulated

Dear Members of the World, you are hard work! 😉

Are we ever going to stand up for the elderly? (They need your ‘left click’ ;))

Hillary Clinton Health care elderly

Possible SOLUTION here in…

Cammy boy has just been on TV talking about the dementia crisis; chanting fluffy objectives and aims at the subject, when really little will be done; his funding offer is a drop in the ocean.

Whose fault is this?

Well it’s half the fault of the policy makers; but WE are mainly to blame.

I bet there is not one person reading this who hasn’t seen at least one documentary on the abuse of the elderly. We all know they die of malnutrition and neglect, whilst in hospitals and care homes.

I will tell you a story that is not easy for me to divulge as I’m so ashamed of the choice I made. I began work for a care agency and my second day was spent in a large care home, I can’t tell you how stressful and horrendous the shift was, I was completely ill prepared and I had to power walk the entire 8 hours, just to get the job done.

This poor lady had an accident. When we went into her room she and everything else was covered in poop. Two of us were sent in to clear it up and she said

“We haven’t got time to bath her; they only have one bath a week”!

Shame (1968 film)

We left the woman with her own excrement under her fingernails; and half baby wiped the shit off the walls.

I couldn’t go back, but I also didn’t do anything to stand up for that poor lady, I wanted to but I knew if I spoke up I wouldn’t get any more shifts, and I had rent to pay. I made a bad choice; the subculture of ‘keeping your mouth shut’ is rife in this industry, and sadly, abuse becomes a necessary normality; when 3 women are responsible for feeding and putting to bed… 49 disabled poorly people!!!

One documentary showed that if you placed all pensioners in prison, and all prisoners in care homes, they would be better-off. I think they stated around 40 extra rights that prisoners have over the elderly…

Our grandparents

Our veterans

Our family

Our people

Sooooooo, I’ve decide whilst writing this, that if I get ooooodles of likes and comments on this post, I’m gonna send it to Cameron and I will keep you posted on his reply (he has to reply to you by law…;) how wonderful)

One Click...

And this request extends to the entire world, not just the residents of Britain, we’re all connected anyway and the idea that we all belong to a home land, kind of falls apart if you go back too many years. So this is a call to ALL members of the world (who might land on this post), to stand up for ALL the elderly people IN OUR WORLD!

Let’s save our sweet and deserving ‘biddies’ today, please people?

SOLUTION (dum dum duummmm)

Policy needs to increase the legal minimum ratio of care workers to residents, and all these problems will be freed up to be solved, by workers and managers. IT’S THAT SIMPLE. Without this, things cannot physically change. The training has stepped up, but MORE bodies are needed. IT IS HONESTLY THAT EASY (for a start anyway)

We will be the elderly in a flash and thus far, were a bit of a disgrace to their existence. It’s so easy to ignore what’s not directly under our noses, even our own family ;(

If you like this I urge you to spam it all over ‘social media town’, pretty please… so they can all ‘likey’ too, and please add any comments to the commons if you have owt to say for our elderly.

Please likey (gooooo on ;)) Danke

Timing Timing Timing! Time too…

The LONG EMERGENCY (Kunstler wrote the book in...

Timing is everything…

Yet in many ways, time is a fallacy, it is a man-made concept. Greenwich mean
time, morning, noon, night, today, tomorrow, next year. We made them all up!

Before clocks, wasn’t life just… ‘Being’?

And is it time that has made, just ‘being’ so hard?

Yet in all its literal nothingness, it is everything

As people, living through ‘time’

We change as sure as a ticking clock ticks

Even those people who have no insight into their insides

The people who form their opinions in their 20’s and never waver from them

The people who never pick up a book, and the people who never listen to anyone unless they agree with them,

Even these people + time (a man made concept) = change Read the rest of this entry
