I have discovered a little way of lightening the mental load
Make your self a feel good songs list on YouTube
(I read this week that people who listen to love songs take TEN times longer to get over a relationship, than those who don’t listen to mushy love stuff! SO with that knowledge under my belt, I began my quest for songs that don’t remind me of romantic love)
I have scoured the net looking for the ‘best 80’s and 90’s classics’, as well as the best reggae tunes ever
The rule is…If I start feeling blue whilst it is playing, I stop it…
Reason being…not to infect the list with my bad mood, and to do so before my brain associates the song with any sort of sadness
If I had any idea how to, I’d direct you to my own list, but as I’m a YouTube account moron, I’m afraid you’ll have to make your own list 🙂
I hope it works for you 🙂
It makes me less blue; may that work for you too (should you be blue!)
Luv Dawny 🙂 xxx
Welcome to DJ Dawny’s Lent-Ville..Please feel free to spend the next 21 or so minutes, singing this bundle of musical wonder, direct to God himself
As planned, I have been doing my best to sing to God since the 13th. I am known for singing quite terribly (on purpose) when I’m alone, so I may well be making the Lords ears bleed :)… but I’m hoping his heart is singing with me, in spite of the plethora of bum notes that leak from within the depths of my strange old soul 🙂
Here are the 7 songs I’ve chosen since day 1
Your Song – Elton John
Joyful Joyful – The Sister Act 2 rendition

Being the ignoramus I am, I’ve only just discovered its ‘Lent Time’!
OK Universe! I’m mid way through launching out a plethora of ‘body depleting’ activities and substances from my life; all of which began in the new year!
I think if I forced myself to eject anymore unhealthy wonders from my existence right now; I might perish and die!! 😉
Sooooo…This is what I’m gonna do for Lent
SWAP my thoughts FOR SONGS
I intend to try to sing my way through the day (In thought and sometimes, out loud) for the next 40 days. Each day, I will search through my song collection and choose a little beauty. One that I feel, reflects true love (and therefore, also God)
I thought it might also be a fab idea to pick songs that have some kind of connection to a happy memory. PURPOSE – Cheer up for God!
I read somewhere once, that the highest type of prayer is expressed in song…And if the song reminds me of something happy/sweet/treasured; then hopefully I will increase the amount of good vibes ebbing from my soul, and out into the big wide world. You never know, I might cheer up any lost or moody souls ‘tuned into my wavelength’…with my vocal cahoooning! Read the rest of this entry
If I had the job of trying to inspire the human race – subject LIFE – Using 2 YouTube videos – I’d pick these
SERIOUSLY – This astounding young girl really really says it all, and I believe everyone in the world should have the chance to watch this moving and poignant clip…(you will likely blub at least once, with both sadness and joy, she’s beyond amazing)
Followed by none other than old Louis Himself – Who also says it all, as much with his big old grin as with the wonder of the song itself…Just Magic 🙂

‘Let me inside you, into your room, I’ve heard its lined with the things you don’t show’
These lyrics call to mind my Mum. Her humility and her selflessness, driven by a pure heart and good intentions for everyone else. Her troubles always take a back seat in the dark, for the good of her family
The universe is eternal right? Then she will still be my mother when everything’s gone, she will always carry on because this world will always need Mothers like mine – To shine. She could never be forgotten, as the song gracefully paints
She is not perfect and neither are ‘we’, but the love and the bond between a child and their mother, is to me at least, one of the most perfect things ever to come from all that life offers…
I shan’t dwell on the hell of last year, courtesy of a whopping dose of psychotic insanity (I call her/it ‘Ms Psychosis’)…except to tell you that when she comes at you in full force, she steals all of your previous links to memories old and new; and ‘shats’ all over them with her own scary and wholly negative version, of fowl smelling poop!
She leaves no stone unturned, no niche untouched… and Ms Psychosis done a sterling job of turning all 506 songs on my iPod, into 506 poxy triggers.
Sooooooo; I’ve decided that I don’t want her infecting my playlists anymore. And I’ve told her she is on the way to being phased right outta town
The triggers don’t just disappear unfortunately, you have to boot them out with gusto, over a period of time
So, when the song begins, it now gets 5 seconds to be a sign of insidious evil squit, and the following 3 or 4 minutes are dedicated to remembering the old and marvellous memories, that come with each and every song that I love…
Sooooooooooo…Ms Psychosis, you get 5 seconds now…and soon you’ll be down to 2!
Stick that in your pipe and smoke it, Biatch 🙂
Jenny was beyond excited 🙂
She drifted off…
1 hour later she was back in the room
The regression therapist barely got a word out…
“Me 1st…Was I a Jamaican Joint Smoking Smiler ?”
“I quote…You immediately asked 2 questions”
1) Want some Reefa ?
2) Where’s me waterfall ?
Jenny beamed at Lou and said… “I bloody knew it! I may be as white as a sheet now; but a gal never forgets her roots ” 🙂
The Inspiration page on WordPress is one of my favourite places to visit, and it’s never short on inspirational quotes. I feel there is something truly beautiful and priceless about nurturing another soul with a few wise words. So…I thought I’d give it a go, in the spirit of ‘paying forward’ what I’ve learnt so far.
Here are my 10 ‘Dawny Quotes’
1. If you are creative you are blessed! For there is no right or wrong in ‘Art’. No matter how awful you deem your poem, or the picture you paint… someone somewhere will think it’s fabulous.
2. Anger may well be the most complex and potentially dangerous emotion of the lot. Therefore, learn early, that when you lose your temper, you need to find your silence at the same time.
3. Faith in God is exactly the same thing as faith in love. There is not a soul on this earth who has lived a life untouched by love in some way or another. If you doubt God, just remember love until the doubt subsides. Read the rest of this entry
Whitney – How could anybody not be transfixed by such talent and beauty. Truly a face and a voice you could get lost in forever. A pitch perfect picture perfect princess! Whitney dragged me through childhood and adolescence and out to the other side.
Michael Jackson – Another deep musical love of mine that developed in my teens. And this performance, in my opinion, is MJ at his best. The expression on his face when he is singing the last-minute; captures his magic, his talent and his passion in its entirety. It often brings me to tears; and it moves me to my very core… Read the rest of this entry

About 20 years ago, my brother had just passed his driving test and he purchased an ultra stylish Volvo estate 🙂 complete with beige plastic interior…
Note – It was the era where girls and boys spent hours making ‘smooch mixes’ on cassette…The slow dance at the end of a party was a cultural benchmark of the 80’s ‘new romantics’
We decided to go for a drive down to Basildon to see my Nan, and Leigh was obsessed with this particular song at the time. So; I had to wait for about an hour and a half before we could leave; whilst he recorded it (real-time)
Finally, he filled the entire A and B side of the tape and off we went
In spite of the fact that he was driving the most uncool car known to man (at age 18)…we were feeling pretty special 😉 Read the rest of this entry
I don’t know what this song does to me, or why, or how it does it…But I am truly madly deeply in love with it
Yep…5 minutes later and I still have no words that will do, to describe its wonder, except to say it is like magic medicine for my soul
I hope you enjoy…Happy Thursday
My best friend called me the other night and told me to listen to this song by Ed Sheeran…
In true Dawny style I forgot, and then he came round at the weekend, reminded me, and we listened to a few of his songs together, and I have to say…’He rocks’
I found this one (small bump) particularly moving ‘first take’, but I didn’t listen to it properly until I was alone
It is a story of him awaiting the birth of his baby, and the 2nd take left me more than a little heart-broken…their baby didn’t make it. I decided not to post it, incase anyone reading had suffered a miscarriage…I didn’t want to be responsible for triggering such a tragic and difficult memory in another.
However, miscarriage is a sad but certain part of life, and I have known people who have fought the battle of losing such perfection; they have somehow managed to move on from the loss of their baby, but I’m sure they are still reminded often of their treasured ‘small bump’… as they try to carry on living as best they can.
This song is the most beautiful expression of the experience that I’ve heard, so I decided in the end, I would post it. I think it’s important not to shy away from writing about painful and taboo subjects; sometimes reading about others who have gone through the same harrowing experience as you, brings comfort, and a sense of belonging and understanding
It is an exceptional song with a painful yet beautiful message…
Why ART is all worth it in the end…
What a marvellous ‘Cheer er up er!
I often find that when I wonder why? I wonder why with these very words…
For Fooooooks sake people!
To smile at the unbelievable cuteness of
‘Jools Humble Holland’
I wouldn’t swop my Dad for the world, but if I was Dad-less, I would ask Jools to adopt me
As Micheal McIntyre notes – He introduces everybody whilst walking backwards
He is mildly loved up with every soul that graces his stage, and he sways whilst playing the piano, a good foot each side, from the middle (big sways)
He can be found grinning and launching his hands in the air mid song, in appreciation of the fabulous musician that he is staring at…all ‘awe’d up’ Read the rest of this entry
When Amy died, my other half at the time (who really couldn’t stand her, and thought she sounded like a screaming cat!!!), tried really hard to get on board with the Amy Love, in support of me (bless him). He was very sweet with stuff like that.
(This post is a ‘mini novel’ by necessity; apologies for my long winded gene; but/plus, it’s all highly relevant content)
After days of footage, tears, ‘Dawny stories of Amy love’, footage, tears, shock, footage, footage, ‘Dawny stories, of a plethora of Amy moments’, that are stored in tut my soul. Footage, shock, tears
(Oh and I narrated tooooo, through quite a lot of footage)
He made a profound statement of unbelievable ‘Amy wisdom’…This is how penetrating she was and is; even a complete ‘non fan’ couldn’t fail to see this in her.
In fact Me, Jools Holland and Jay, sat top, middle and bottom, on the fan scale (and yes, I soooo know that I love her more than Joolsy), yet we all were affected MOST by this clip out of THE LOT! Read the rest of this entry
What is the world coming to?
Last night, I was having a little session with Amy and my stereo for about half an hour, I’ll grant you it wasn’t on the quietest volume; but it wasn’t excessively loud! AND I respect the 11pm rule of silence… even though I live at opposite ends of the time continuum to the rest of the world, and screaming children at 7am; and arguments about who is gonna do the milk trip, are just as destructive to my sleep patterns, as music is past 11pm, for the normal people
It was approximately 7pm when a mini earthquake struck my lounge!
Being as I’m psychotic at the moment, it wasn’t the best phenomena for me to ponder over…I seriously thought I had morphed into a whole new land of new insanity, when everything began shaking. NOTE – I turned the music down immediately to investigate the drama
I have a little cupboard directly behind my TV stand which houses my electricity and gas meters. The newish neighbours next door who are too rude to say hello, began smashing some kind of heavy weapon against their side of my cupboard. I’m not sure what their weapon was but the door on the cupboard was forcing its way into the room, and pushing my television off the stand inch by inch with every blow. The glass shelf under the TV fell down, DVDs flew in every direction…and THEN a fucking great lump of concrete FLEW outta the cupboard and landed on my GLASS TV stand! Read the rest of this entry
Of all the Amy Winehouse footage to cause a wave of disapproval, this video sits up there with best of them
In order to see the beauty that I see in this scene, you must first remove the judgements you already have about Crack and its use (although it is worth noting that Crack is probably the most likely drug to cause aggression). If you can’t remove your judgements; try swopping the word crack for wine (which also causes aggressive outbursts)
And re-classify her status more loosely; as a little bit ‘worse for wear’ (legally of course)
Then check out the video Amy Winehouse and Pete Doherty on drugs – YouTube.
Or read the manuscript below, complete with stage cues and action descriptions
What I see is : – heart, endless wit, depth of passion, fun, boundless amounts of life, imagination, creativity, laughter, beauty, friendship, a unique and highly sweet soul, the interaction of two friends, love, vulnerability, fascination, curiosity, loyalty, care and protection…This is what I see, black fingers or no black fingers. Can you?
